Abstract

The multi-description screen content video coding method comprises the following steps of: (1), dividing a screen content video into two sub-sequences having an odd number of frames and an even number of frames; (2), respectively coding the two sub-sequences to generate two corresponding descriptions, which are independently transmitted in a network, wherein a specific process of coding the sub-sequences is as follows: before the single sub-sequence is coded, a part of image blocks of the other sub-sequence is selectively added at first; the single sub-sequence and redundant information are combined; and palette coding and arithmetic coding are sequentially carried out, so that the corresponding descriptions are generated; and (3), at a receiving end, respectively decoding according to different conditions that the single description is received or the two descriptions are simultaneously received.
