Abstract

The invention provides a method for updating check nodes in a decoding method and a decoder. The method comprises the steps of representing a confidence vector of inputted check nodes by using a grid graph; dividing nodes in the grid graph into sets; connecting the nodes in each set into a fixed path; and outputting the confidence through the fixed paths. The decoder comprises a receiving unit, an initialization unit, a variable node updating unit, a port presetting unit and a check node updating unit which hare successively connected, wherein the variable node updating unit is connected with the check node updating unit. The updating method and the decoder provided by the invention reduce the decoding complexity and particularly reduce the computation complexity of the check nodes. Meanwhile, fixed deviation paths are selected, the judgment confidence is adopted, and the decoding throughput can be improved and the consumption of hardware resources can be reduced at very small decoding performance loss.
