Embodiment Construction

[0018] The specification and claims use certain terms to refer to particular components. Those skilled in the art can understand that manufacturers may use different names to refer to the same component. This document distinguishes components not by difference in name, but by difference in function. In the following description and claims, the word "comprises" is open-ended, so it should be read as "including, but not limited to...".

[0019] Embodiments of the present invention provide a system, device and method for accelerating image rendering operations. The system includes a CPU, a GPU, and a hardware graphics accelerator (also referred to as a "graphics accelerator device" or "accelerator"), among other components. Accelerators have a smaller size and consume less power than GPUs. The accelerator can work in multiple operation modes, including but not limited to: synthesis mode, rendering mode and virtual reality mode. In composite mode, the accelerator composites im...

Abstract

The invention discloses an image accelerator and a related method. The image accelerator comprises a rasterization module, wherein, a rasterized first set of primitives becomes a first group of pixels and generates information of the first group of pixels; a process internal module acquires a pixel vale from a memory according to the information received from the rasterization module, then performs mathematical calculations to the pixel value and generates one or more processed image layers; and a process intermediate module that synthesis the one or more processed image layers received from the process inter module with other image layers received from the memory, outputs the synthesized image for displaying. The image accelerator and the related method can make the image rending process more smooth, and can greatly reduce or even avoid frame losing.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to an image processing system; more particularly, to a hardware accelerator for accelerating rendering and compositing of images. Background technique [0002] In the field of computer graphics, rendering refers to the process of generating an image on a display device from a description of an image object or model. A graphics processing unit (GPU) renders 2D and 3D image objects into image elements (pixels). 2D and 3D image objects are usually composed of primitives such as points, lines, polyhedrons, and higher-order polyhedrons. synthetic representation. [0003] A GPU typically includes a rendering pipeline for rendering operations. The rendering pipeline consists of the following major stages: (1) vertex processing, which processes and transforms vertices (used to describe primitives) into projection space, (2) rasterization, which transforms each primitive into It is converted into a group of pixels and aligned wi...
