Embodiment Construction

[0011] by referring to the attached Figure 1 to Figure 5 to appreciate at least one exemplary embodiment of the presently disclosed subject matter.

[0012] see figure 1 , the electronic module 10 includes a housing 12 and a pair of first components or flat electrical contacts 14 and 16 protruding from a side 18 of the housing 12 . The contacts are secured to a second component, such as a circuit board, substrate, or printed circuit board (PCB) board 20 . As shown, circuit board 20 has conductive strips 22 and 24 that engage contacts 14 and 16, respectively, and overlie a dielectric substrate.

[0013] Such as figure 2 As best shown in , the contacts 14 and 16 have respective openings or holes 26 and 28 extending therethrough. Openings 26 and 28 are adapted to respectively receive a threaded shaft 30 of a fastener 34, preferably a bolt. Each bolt includes a hex head 38 and a flange or washer 40 .

[0014] The circuit board 20 has openings or holes 42 and 44 spaced apar...

Abstract

A fastener assembly includes a second component for fastening to a first component. The first and second parts have openings for alignment with each other. The second component has a plurality of slots spaced from its opening. A nut holder is mounted to the second part. The retainer has a base and a plurality of flexible legs protruding from the base. Each leg is adapted to be inserted through a respective one of the slots and retain the retainer to the second part. The base has an opening in the shape of a hexagon. The assembly also includes hex nuts and bolts. The nut is non-rotatably received by the hexagonal opening. A threaded shaft of the bolt extends through the first and second openings and is threadedly received by the nut such that the first component is retained between the bolt head and the second component.

Description

technical field [0001] The present disclosure relates to a fastener assembly for fastening two components together through a mechanical and electrical connection, such as fastening contacts or terminals of an electrical or electronic module to corresponding conductive traces or portions of a circuit board. Background technique [0002] Current methods of attaching electrical contacts to circuit boards involve creating fixtures that allow machines or personnel access to the bottom and top of the circuit board. The jig then places all the parts needed for the bolted connection and allows the fabricator to make the connection. This increases the cost of assembly and increases the time required to complete the assembly. This also increases the risk that the components may be damaged during their transfer from the jig to the housing assembly. Another problem with standard electronic bolting is that, if one chooses not to fabricate a fixture and instead use an enclosure to hold ...
