Problems solved by technology

Typically, the signals received by some remotely located street lights are likely to experience significant degradation as signals are transmitted between the master controller and each street light across power lines or via other conventional wireless means (e.g., ZigBee or Wifi). attenuation, resulting in signal transmission failure

Embodiment Construction

[0025] figure 1 A block diagram of a preferred embodiment of a lamp system 100 according to the invention is shown. The light system 100 includes a central control box 120 in the form of an above ground (OG) box and a plurality of street light fixtures 140 operatively and wirelessly associated with the central control box 120 .

[0026] The central control box 120 includes a control-side central controller 121 and an integrated control-side communication module 122 operatively associated therewith, and the central controller 121 is operable to wirelessly transmit control signals through the control-side communication module 122 . In this embodiment, the central controller 121 takes the form of a Triangle Research International programmable logic controller (model number FMD88-10) and is configured with ladder logic and the T-Basic programming language to execute various function (described in detail below). Although the central controller 121 and the communication module 122...

Abstract

A lamp system 100 comprising: a plurality of lamp fixtures 140 each operable to receive a control signal, to operate according to the received control signal, and to transmit another control signal corresponding to the received control signal for receipt by another one of the lamp fixtures 140, wherein the lamp fixtures 140 are compliant with Synapse Network Application Protocol (SNAP); and a central control box 120 comprising a central controller that is a programmable logic controller (PLC) 121 operable to transmit the control signal.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to light systems, and more particularly to light systems capable of remote lighting control and monitoring by a Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) via the Synapse Network Application Protocol (SNAP). Background technique [0002] Traditional street lighting systems have some drawbacks and are often difficult to operate. Traditional street lights usually employ a traditional main controller in the form of an intelligent server, industrial PC, or embedded PC. In such a form, although the main controller can achieve high performance, it inevitably has a complicated structure and requires a complicated program which is difficult and expensive to maintain. Also, it is often large in size and consumes energy. On the other hand, although it is possible to implement the main controller in the form of a Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) instead, such a PLC implemented according to conventional technology is only capable of exe...
