According to an embodiment of the present application, provided is a method for controlling a plurality of street lights through a first control operation based on the travel speed of a moving object and a second control operation based on
traffic volume. The first control operation in the method comprises: a step in which a first
street light detects at least one moving object that approaches within a predetermined detection range and the travel speed of the moving object; a step in which a lighting area size and a lighting duration in the travel direction of the moving object are determined from the first
street light according to the detected speed of the moving object; a step in which a lighting activation
signal is transmitted to one or more second street lights, successively arranged spaced apart from the first
street light in the travel direction, according to the determined size of the lighting area; and a step in which the second street light is lit by controlling the brightness of the second street lights and the lighting duration on the basis of the lighting activation
signal. The second control operation in the method comprises: a step in which the first street light detects the number of moving objects traveling in a predetermined travel section on the basis of a
wireless communication connection; a step in which the current
traffic volume of the travel section is determined according to the number of moving objects; and a step in which, when the current
traffic volume is equal to or greater than a predetermined reference value, the first control operation is stopped for a plurality of third street lights in the travel section including the first street light, and the third street lights are kept lit at a constant brightness.
