The tundish composite magnesium calcium coating material for the clean steel is prepared from the following raw materials by weight percent: 10 to 40 percent of magnesia-calcium clinker, 8.0 to 30.0 percent of limestone, 20 to 55 percent of magnesia, 1 to 10 percent of slaked lime powder, 0.5 to 2 percent of paper fibers, 0.5 to 5 percent of clay, 0.5 to 3 percent of calcium chloride, 0.5 to 3 percent of silica powder, 0.1 to 1.0 percent of sodium tripolyphosphate and 0.1 to 1.0 percent of sodium hexametaphosphate. At a high temperature, CaO in the magnesium calcium coating material mainly exists in a free state, nonmetal impurities such as S, P, Si, Al and the like in the molten steel can be effectively absorbed, the content of impurities and the particle size of the impurities in the steel can be greatly reduced, the waterproof performance is excellent, and the tundish composite magnesium calcium coating material can be suitable for the sudden change of temperature in tundish; and the tundish composite magnesium calcium coating material has appropriate normal-temperature strength, mid-temperature strength and high-temperature strength, has high damage resistance to the high-temperature molten steel, has good construction performance and is convenient to smear and construct.
