Abstract

The invention provides a rapid mode decision method specific to the problem of AVS2 inter-frame coding complexity. The method comprises the following steps: during inter-frame coding, calculating texture complexities in a horizontal direction and a vertical direction of a coding block firstly, calculating a horizontal symmetrical division mode (HOR_SYM) if the texture complexity in the horizontal direction is lower, otherwise calculating a vertical symmetrical mode (VER_SYM); meanwhile, using a prediction mode of an optimal reference block as a reference to avoid wrong judgment due to external factors; and if the horizontal symmetrical or vertical symmetrical mode is a current optimal mode, further analyzing the texture of a prediction unit (PU) in a horizontal asymmetrical or vertical asymmetrical mode, and choosing whether to perform calculations of the asymmetrical modes or not according to texture features. Through adoption of the method, calculations of five modes can be reduced at most; calculations of three modes can be reduced at least; the coding complexity can be lowered remarkably; and meanwhile only little coding performance is lost.
