The method comprises the following steps: selecting a Japanese maple seedling of 1-2 years old as a grafting stock of Japanese red maple; selecting a grafting period; performing grafting by adopting a patch grafting method; attaching a Japanese red maple bud piece with xylem to the grafting stock, wherein the grafting height is 6-10 cm higher than the root of the stock, and the width and the length of the cut of the stock are larger than the width and the length of the Japanese red maple bud piece; during the patch grafting, enabling at least one side of the Japanese red maple bud piece to be aligned with a cutting edge of the stock; after the grafting is completed, exposing the bud eye, and binding the attaching joint of the bud piece and the stock by a soft film, during binding, ensuring that the attaching joint of the bud piece and the stock is sealed and water does not seep.
