Abstract

A low-complexity sequence estimator for general packet radio service (GPRS) systems. A method and apparatus are provided. The method includes: receiving, by a user equipment, a phase shift keyed modulated signal from a transceiver; derotating the phase shift keyed modulated signal; based on a first main tap gain lookup table corresponding to even time samples and a first intersymbol interference lookup table, and a second main tap gain lookup table and a second intersymbol interference lookup table corresponding to odd time samples, using a maximum likelihood sequence estimator for the phase shift keying modulated signal to balance.
