Problems solved by technology

For example, an operator moving a ferromagnetic object out of an MRI chamber would cause an alarm to go off even though it is not an associated hazard
[0015] Redundant alerts can be irritating to operators and can cause them to pay less attention to alerts that are actually useful

Embodiment Construction

[0146] refer to figure 1 , shows a first embodiment of a protection device for protecting an entrance to a protected area. For the purposes of this example, the protected area is an MRI room, typically an MRI room is a shielded space housing a Magnetic Resonance Imaging machine (MRI machine). These rooms are often located in large hospitals or universities. The entrance includes a doorway, and the doorway is equipped with a magnetic shield type casement door located in a door frame. When the device detects that a ferromagnetic object has passed or is about to pass the door, the device will, where appropriate, protect the room door by sounding an alarm.

[0147] The device comprises a main magnetic sensing device comprising a magnetic sensor 4, such as a fluxgate sensor, a magnetoresistive sensor, a magnetoresistive sensor, a Hall effect sensor or an electric coil sensor, the output of which is incident on the Measurement signal of the magnetic field on the sensor 4 . The s...

Abstract

The present invention relates to an apparatus for protecting an entrance of a protected area. The apparatus comprises a magnetic sensor to measure an ambient magnetic field or gradient within a firstzone of sensitivity at a non-magnetic sensor means adapted to detect the presence of objects within a primary detection zone, a signal processing circuit arranged in communication with the magnetic sensor apparatus and non-magnetic sensor apparatus, and a warning device operable by an output signal from the signal processing circuit, the warning device adapted to provide an alarm. The signal processing circuit identifies temporal variations due to the movement of a ferromagnetic object within the ambient magnetic field and correlates them with instances in which the non-magnetic sensor means detects the presence of an object in its detection zone, and causes the alarm to operate in the event that the correlation is indicative of the presence of a ferromagnetic object in the primary detection zone. It also determines the direction from which an object is approaching the using signals from the non-magnetic sensor means and modifies the operation of the warning device dependent on the direction.

Description

[0001] This case is a divisional application of the invention patent application with the application number 201380067644.6, the application date is October 21, 2013, and the invention title is "A device for detecting ferromagnetic objects at the protected door components". technical field [0002] The present invention relates to devices for securing doorway assemblies, protected doorways and methods of securing doorways; in particular, but not exclusively, to reducing false or redundant alarms commonly associated with such devices. [0003] The invention relates to a device for detecting the presence of a ferromagnetic object and a protected doorway assembly for a room including a device for detecting a ferromagnetic object; in particular the invention relates to a device for detecting the presence of a ferromagnetic object comprising a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scan Check the device for the presence of ferromagnetic objects near the door of the instrument's room.
