no. 1 approach

[0098] According to a first embodiment, based on the use of inertial means, the process comprises:

[0099] - Project images onto the ground using inertial means and calculate the overlap between two adjacent images projected onto the ground when these images form part of the same image swath (e.g. using the following technique: calculate the current image and the adjacent projection of images on the ground to measure the geometric transformation that exists between these two projected images and to measure their degree of overlap and their actual alignment);

[0100] - the image being acquired in the current image swath (assuming the current swath is the result of a different line-of-sight scan than the initial scan) with the image of the initial image swath (from the first scan of the same terrain area as the current image area) ( or multiple images) to perform the same operation;

[0101]- check that the overlap is lower than the set point (=preset overlap) set for low ove...

Abstract

The invention relates to a method for acquiring images of a scene, from a moving carrier (2) equipped with a sensor, which comprises a step of acquiring images (1) of the scene during the movement ofthe carrier, and a step of servocontrolling the angular direction of the line of sight of the sensor. The acquisition is carried out: for a first position of the carrier with a servocontrol allowing an outward scan of a strip of terrain (4a) of the scene, combined with a scan in a ''step-and-stare'' mode with a biaxial ''stare'' micro-movement, to be carried out, a first band of images thus beingacquired, and in that at least one other band of images is acquired in a given zone of terrain by reiterating these scanning steps for at least one other position (P2) of the carrier, each image of another band being acquired with a preset degree of overlap with the images of the first band.

Description

technical field [0001] The field of the invention is that of acquiring images by automatic control of the line of sight of sensors combined with image processing, eg for survey or surveillance applications. Background technique [0002] The line-of-sight (ligne de visée, LdV) scan pattern of an automatically controlled radar or optical sensor implemented in a pod (POD), aircraft or ground vehicle is usually a pattern of the following type: [0003] - Transversal scanning at a constant angle, also known in the radar field as a strip pattern; [0004] - Focusing of fixed points (= for tracking fixed points); [0005] - Tracking of moving targets; [0006] - Circular scan, for ground applications. [0007] The first type of scan enables scanning of a terrain swath, but with a constant viewpoint between the aircraft and the point on the ground being scanned. [0008] The second type enables objects on the ground to be seen from various viewpoints, but covers a very limited a...
