Abstract

In a machine, in particular a machine tool or production machine, the rigidity of a drivetrain (1 to 6) for the linear movement of the machine component (7) along a linear guide of the machine is to be determined in a simple and cost-effective fashion. In the process, the drivetrain (1 to 6) comprises a motor (1) with a motor-measuring system (8) and the linear guide (6) is assigned a length-measuring system (9) for determining the position of the machine component (7), wherein the machine also comprises a numerical controller (10) for performing control of the movement of the machine component (7). It is proposed to determine the rigidity of the drivetrain (1 to 6) by predefining a constant acceleration to the machine component (7) by means of the numerical controller (10), determining adifference between a position of the machine component (7) which is derived from the motor-measuring system (8) and a position of the machine component (7) which is measured in the same time by the length measuring system (9), by means of the numerical controller (10) during the acceleration phase, and assigning the difference to the acceleration or to a force necessary for the acceleration and storing the value pair determined in this way and / or a rigidity value obtained from the value pair in the numerical controller (10).
