The water meter is connected with a wireless camera module through a wireless network. The wireless camera module is connected with a main control chip. The system also includes a flow sensor. The flow sensor is connected with the main control chip. The main control chipis connected with a human-machine interaction system, and includes an algorithm migration module, a wireless communication module, a resetting module and a power supply module. The power supply moduleincludes a super capacitor and a battery. The invention also discloses a method of image processing. Firstly, a water-meter image is preprocessed by the algorithm migration module of the main controlchip, then a number reading area of water-meter data is accurately positioned, and characters of the positioned number reading area are divided into single characters, then 13-dimensional feature vectors are extracted and obtained, and finally, a neural network model is employed to carry out character recognition on the extracted 13-dimensional feature vectors to obtain a certain particular recognition number matrix. The detection system and the image processing method disclosed by the invention facilitate counting of the water-meter data and detection of the amount of used water.
