Embodiment Construction

[0039] This specification is directed to a multi-cinema light source for providing 3D light (left-eye and right-eye optical flow) to two or more 3D projectors that are The left and right eyes provide switching back and forth between 3D content. The inventors have realized that it would be very useful and less expensive to split the laser output from right and left eye emitters (lasers or groups of lasers configured based on certain WMX technology etc.) operation, and such that the number of light sources required to operate a 3D projection system with two or more projectors (eg, two or more projection spaces such as a 3D cinema) can be reduced by at least 50%.

[0040] Multiplex cinema light sources used in the display or projection systems described herein are typically adapted to provide left and right eye light to two or more light outputs / outlets (eg, fiber optic connections) in a switched manner. Thus, a multiplex theater light source will typically include first and sec...

Abstract

A multi-theater light source for two or more 3D projectors positioned in differing spaces. The apparatus includes a first light source outputting light to display left eye content, and the apparatus includes a second light source outputting light for use by the projectors to display right eye content. The apparatus includes a switching device that receives the light output from the first and second light sources and switches between first and second operating states to route the left and right eye light. In the first operating state, the switching device directs the light from the first lightsource toward a first projector and the light output from the second light source toward a second projector. In the second operating state, the switching device directs the light output from the firstlight source toward the second projector and the light output from the second light source toward the first projectors.

Description

[0001] Cross References to Related Applications [0002] This application claims the benefit of U.S. Provisional Application No. 62 / 468,296, filed March 7, 2017, the entire contents of which are incorporated herein by reference. technical field [0003] This specification generally relates to three-dimensional (3D) projection and display technologies, including 3D glasses or anaglyph glasses worn by viewers to perceive 3D images and 3D projectors for projecting left and right eye content onto spatial and theater screens. More specifically, the specification relates to a light source system for providing light to a plurality of 3D projectors (or projection devices or projection heads) each providing 3D content or media and are each (typically but not necessarily) located in different spaces (e.g. different theaters, different rides or exhibit spaces within a theme park, cabins of different vehicles to ride in, etc.) and / or generate separate 3D images / image. Background techn...
