Abstract

The invention discloses an application of quercetin in preparation of a drug for treating CP (chronic prostatitis) and a drug which is used for treating nonbacterial prostatitis and has the active component of quercetin. It is found that the quercetin can reduce the prostate index and reduce infiltration of inflammatory cells in prostate mesenchyme on the premise that the body weight is not affected, which indicates that the quercetin has the significant inhibition effect on the CP in histology; the quercetin can significantly reduce levels of inflammatory cell factors IL-1beta, IL-2, IL-6 andTNF-alpha in prostatitis tissue, which proves that the quercetin has the significant anti-inflammatory function on the CP; the quercetin can significantly improve antioxidant enzyme activity in bodies and reduce production of oxidative stress products, which indicates that the quercetin has the significant antioxidation effect on the CP. The results prove that the quercetin has significant treatment effects on the CP, and the foundation is laid for development of clinical drugs.
