Abstract

The invention provides malvastrum coromandelianum volatile oil and an application thereof. The malvastrum coromandelianum volatile oil is obtained by extraction and purifying in the following steps: (1) crushing the malvastrum coromandelianum, adding water, stirring the materials and performing distillation with water vapor to obtain a volatile oil-containing water system; and (2) adding an organic solvent to the volatile oil-containing water system for extraction, discarding a separated aqueous layer, adding a dehydrated drying agent to the organic solvent containing the volatile oil for dehydrating, performing filtering, and recovering the organic solvent to obtain the dry and pure volatile oil. The malvastrum coromandelianum volatile oil has good antibacterial and anticancer activities,and has good antibacterial activity against staphylococcus aureus, bacillus subtilis, escherichia coli and pseudomonas aeruginosa, has good anti-cancer and cancer-inhibiting effects on HepG2 (human liver cancer cells) and MCF-7 (human breast cancer cells), and is suitable for industrial production applications.
