Embodiment Construction

[0043] As required, detailed embodiments of the present invention are disclosed herein; however, it is to be understood that the disclosed embodiments are merely exemplary of the invention, which may be embodied in various and alternative forms. The drawings are not necessarily to scale; some features may be exaggerated or minimized to show details of particular components. Therefore, specific structural and functional details disclosed herein are not to be interpreted as limiting, but merely as a representative basis for teaching one skilled in the art to variously employ the present invention. The same parts are always represented by the same reference numerals in different drawings, so that they are also usually described only once.

[0044] figure 1 and figure 2 In each case a part of a motor vehicle 1 (more precisely a motor vehicle) is shown in a plan view. The motor vehicle 1 has a headlamp housing 10 in the front region, which is adjacent to a fender 40 at the rear...

Abstract

The invention relates to a component group for a vehicle body, having a headlamp housing, which has at least one connecting portion integrally formed in one piece for connection to an adjoining body part, and a predetermined breaking point for separation of the connecting portion from a neighboring portion. To minimize both the repair costs in the event of a collision at low speed in the region ofthe headlamp and also the costs for production and assembly, it is provided according to the invention that the neighboring portion has connecting structures for connection to a joining part with which the connecting portion is replaceable after its separation.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to a headlamp assembly and its connection with a vehicle body. Background technique [0002] In modern motor vehicles, the safety of the occupants and other road users is the highest priority in the event of a crash. It is also desirable to keep maintenance costs as low as possible, if possible. This applies in particular to low-speed collisions, where possible damage can be limited to a small number of vehicle components, and the possible damage to relevant vehicle components is minimal. The resulting damage or incidental repair costs can be determined with a proper low-speed crash test and can affect the insurance premium to be paid. [0003] A typical scenario in a low-speed collision event involves the vehicle striking an obstacle with its headlights. The headlamp housing is usually connected to a front fender or the like, which in turn is connected to the front door. In such cases, typical damage modes include dam...
