Abstract

The invention discloses a cooling device and method for dissipating heat of a heat-generating part of a downhole instrument. The cooling device comprises a chassis fixed in a casing of a downhole instrument by a connecting member and made of a heat-conducting material, a heat-generating electrical part mounted on the chassis, and a pipeline longitudinally extending through a cylindrical channel longitudinally formed in the chassis and the connecting member and made of a heat-conducting material, wherein the outer wall of the pipeline is in contact with the inner surface of the cylindrical channel, the tail end of the pipeline is communicated with a probe arranged on the outer side of the bottom of the casing of the downhole instrument, a pump arranged in the casing of the downhole instrument is connected to the portion, between the probe and the chassis, of the pipeline, and the top end of the pipeline extends into an outlet formed in the upper portion of the casing of the downhole instrument. A fluid is pumped from a stratum to the pipeline through the pump in the casing of the downhole instrument, the fluid in the pipeline executes heat exchange with the chassis when passing through the chassis, and the purpose of heat dissipation and cooling of the heat-generating electrical part is achieved.
