According to the obtained H<2>, CH<4>, C<2>H<6>, C<2>H<4> and C<2>H<2> gas contents, a reference vector is established; different weights are assigned to different elements in the detected gas content vector; then state categories of the gas contents are discriminated by the weighted Mahalanobis distance, which can be divided into a medium-low temperature fault, a high temperature fault, low energy discharge, high energy discharge and a normal state.
