Embodiment Construction

[0026] The present invention provides a method and system for fast and non-invasive calculation of hemodynamic indices based on medical image data of a patient. Embodiments of the present invention are described herein to give a visual understanding of a method for fast, computer-based calculations, such as blood Hemodynamic index of fractional flow reserve (FFR). Digital images often consist of digital representations of one or more objects (or shapes). Digital representations of objects are often described herein in terms of recognizing and manipulating objects. Such manipulations are virtual manipulations done in the computer system's memory or other circuitry / hardware. Accordingly, it should be understood that embodiments of the present invention may be implemented within a computer system using data stored within the computer system.

[0027] In recent years, considerable attention has been paid to using computational methods to model blood flow in the human cardiovasc...

Abstract

A method and system for fast non-invasive computer-based computation of a hemodynamic index, such as fractional flow reserve (FFR) from medical image data of a patient is disclosed. A patient-specificanatomical model of one or more arteries of a patient is automatically generated based on medical image data of the patient. Regions in the automatically generated patient-specific anatomical model for which user feedback is required for accurate computation of a hemodynamic index are predicted using one or more trained machine learning models.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates generally to the non-invasive calculation of hemodynamic indices for arterial stenosis, and more particularly to the rapid non-invasive calculation of hemodynamic indices such as fractional flow reserve based on medical image data of a patient . Background technique [0002] Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the leading cause of death worldwide. Among the various CVDs, coronary artery disease (CAD) accounts for nearly 50% of deaths. Despite dramatic improvements in medical imaging and other diagnostic modalities, premature morbidity and mortality among patients with CAD has increased substantially. Current clinical practice for the diagnosis and management of coronary artery stenosis involves estimating diseased vessels either visually or by quantitative coronary angiography (QCA). This estimate provides the clinician with an anatomical overview of the stenotic segment and parent vessel, including area reduction, lesion l...
