Embodiment Construction

[0028] One aspect of the present disclosure aims to provide a fully differential programmable gain amplifier with improved performance and reduced component requirements. An apparatus and method are provided for receiving two differential input voltages and generating two differential output voltages, wherein the difference between the two output voltages is equal to the difference between the two input voltages.

[0029] According to exemplary embodiments disclosed herein, a sensing pad for a capacitive sensing system may include conductors printed on a substrate. The conductor is operatively coupled to a sensing circuit configured to sense the presence of an object using a measure of current flow through the conductor. The conductor is divided into regions by a resistive material that is printed on the substrate between the sections of the conductor. Both conductive and resistive materials include inks. The sensing circuitry is configured to independently sense the presenc...

Abstract

A system for detecting the presence of an occupant of a seat is disclosed. The system includes a sensing mat that includes an upper conducting layer and a lower conducting layer. At least one of the conducting layers comprises a printed electronic circuit separated into conductive zones by at least one resistive zone. The mat also includes a plurality of sensing zones and each of the sensing zonesinclude a conductive zone from the upper conducting layer and a conductive zone from the lower conducting layer. Each of the conducting layers are connected to a controller configured to detect a change in capacitance of each of the sensing zones resulting from a change in distance between the upper conducting layer and the lower conducting layer. The controller is connected to a vehicle networkand is configured to provide data to the network that indicates the absence or presence of the occupant.

Description

[0001] Cross References to Related Applications [0002] This application claims the benefit of priority to U.S. Provisional Patent Application No. 62 / 543,627, filed August 10, 2017, which is incorporated herein by reference in its entirety. technical field [0003] The present application relates to a system for detecting the presence of an occupant of a seat. More specifically, the present application relates to capacitive sensing systems for detecting the presence of humans. In a disclosed embodiment, the system is used to detect the presence of an occupant in a vehicle seat. Background technique [0004] Conductive ink screen printing and other dispensing methods have been used to print the conductors for the sense pads. However, the present application discloses another novel method of creating multiple sensing regions in a sensing pad by printing or silkscreening one or more resistive regions in series with conductive traces. For example, the present application dis...
