Abstract

The present invention relates to a narrow width connector with a spring loaded remote release mechanism and an adapter. The narrow width fiber optic connector with the spring loaded remote release mechanism is convenient to operate and use the connectors in a high density array, and comprises a multi-fiber connector, wherein the width of the narrow width fiber optic connector is less than about 12.4mm; a housing configured to hold the multi-fiber connector and further comprising a connector recess; and a pull tab having a ramp area and configured to disengage a latch of one of the adapter andan SFP from the connector recess. The pull tab may include a spring configured to allow the latch of one of the adapter and the SFP to engage with the connector recess.
