Embodiment Construction

[0015] Provided herein are techniques for providing speed visuals in riding environments that mimic visual perceptual cues of speed and can be used in conjunction with moving and / or stopped vehicles. For example, speed visuals can be dynamically adjusted during vehicle deceleration so that even during vehicle deceleration, vehicle occupants experience that they are dashing forward at high speed. That is, speed effects mask the actual vehicle speed during deceleration or low-speed segments of the ride so that passengers experience speed even in areas of the ride that do not support actual high speeds (e.g., space-constrained) Stimulate.

[0016] While some attractions may use displayed or projected representations as part of a simulation-based ride experience, incorporating such representations into route-based rides is more challenging. Route-based rides typically accommodate multiple vehicles at different points along the route to allow for greater passenger capacity. A pat...

Abstract

Provided herein is a ride system. The ride system includes a ride vehicle configured to move along a ride path at a first speed in a forward direction. Furthermore, the ride system includes a displaysystem proximate the ride path, such that the display system displays imagery of an object moving at a second speed and away from the forward direction, and such that the second speed is based on a position of the ride vehicle, the first speed of the ride vehicle, or a combination thereof. The ride system also includes a control system that includes a processor and a memory device communicativelycoupled to the processor. The memory devices stores instructions that cause the processor to provide a first control signal to cause the display system to change the second speed of the imagery basedon the position of the ride vehicle, the first speed of the ride vehicle, or a combination thereof.

Description

technical field [0001] The present disclosure relates generally to the field of amusement parks. More specifically, embodiments of the present disclosure relate to methods and equipment utilized to provide an amusement park experience. Background technique [0002] Various amusement park rides have been created to provide passengers with unique motion or visual experiences. In one example, roller coasters and themed rides may be implemented with multiple passenger vehicles traveling along paths. In addition to the stimuli created by changes in the vehicle's speed or direction as passengers move along the path, the vehicle itself may generate special effects, such as sound or motion effects. In another example, certain rides may be implemented with visual enhancement (eg, image displays, representations, or projections) elements to create changing views and movements as passenger vehicles travel along a route. However, despite such enhancements to these passenger vehicles,...
