[0014] The present disclosure relates to methods for restoring navigation performance if a navigation system has been cheated. The methods described herein involve determining a drift range between a first navigation system and a second navigation system. For exemplary purposes described herein, the first navigation system is a global navigation satellite system (GNSS) and the second navigation system is an inertial navigation system (INS). Although this description is primarily directed to use on an aircraft, it is applicable to any vehicle or environment, including on land or at sea, that will utilize a navigation system that may be subject to spoofing attacks.

Abstract

A method of restoring navigational performance for a navigational system is disclosed, the method comprising receiving, by a first navigational system and a second navigational system, a collection ofdata points to establish a real-time navigational route for an aircraft, comparing navigational performance values and / or drift ranges and establishing a new navigational route based on the collection of data points.

Description

technical field [0001] The present disclosure relates to a method of restoring navigation performance of a mobile vehicle having a navigation system in response to a spoof signal, and more particularly, to a method of establishing a new navigation route. Background technique [0002] Typically, satellite-based communication and navigation systems provide position and time information for nautical, aviation, locomotive, and motor vessels. Satellite communication and navigation systems can appear anywhere on or near Earth where the line of sight between a ship and one or more satellites is not compromised. Satellite communication and navigation systems have a variety of applications on land, at sea and in the air. [0003] Aircraft rely on satellite communications for navigation and information (eg, weather) systems. Spoofing occurs when a signal is sent to an aircraft to intentionally provide false information to the aircraft's navigation and information systems. For examp...
