[0035] For terms defined below, these definitions control unless a different definition is given in the claims or elsewhere in this specification.

[0036] All numerical values, whether expressly stated or not, are herein modified by the term "about". The term "about" generally refers to a range of numbers that one of skill in the art would consider equivalent to the stated value (ie, having the same function or result). In many instances, the term "about" may include figures that are rounded to the nearest significant figure.

[0037] The recitation of numerical ranges by endpoints includes all numbers subsumed within that range (eg, 1 to 5 includes 1, 1.5, 2, 2.75, 3, 3.80, 4, and 5).

[0038] As used in this specification and the appended claims, the singular forms "a," "an," and "the" include plural referents unless the content clearly dictates otherwise. As used in this specification and the appended claims, the term "or" is generally employed in its sense including "an...

Abstract

A wireless controller to set a programmable set point of a remote HVAC unit that thermostatically controls a temperature in a space using the temperature sensed and a programmable set point. The wireless controller may include a transmitter, a memory, a temperature sensor, and a controller. The wireless controller may transmit commands to set the programmable set point of the remote HVAC unit, wait until the temperature sensed by the temperature sensor of the wireless controller stabilizes, determine a difference between the desired set point temperature and the stabilized temperature, and ifthe offset temperature is greater than or equal to a threshold offset, determine an updated control set point temperature and transmit commands to set the programmable set point of the remote HVAC unit to an updated control set point temperature.

Description

technical field [0001] The present disclosure relates generally to building automation systems, and more particularly to remote wireless controllers for such building automation systems. Background technique [0002] Building automation systems may include systems such as heating, ventilation, and / or air conditioning (HVAC) systems, security / access control systems, lighting systems, fire alarm and / or suppression systems, and / or other building control systems. HVAC systems are commonly used to control the level of comfort within a building or other structure. There are various types of HVAC systems in use today. Some HVAC systems utilize a centralized source of heated or cooled air (e.g., central heating, air conditioners, and / or air handlers) and a network of ducts, dampers, etc. to affect conditions in multiple rooms of a building to manage the entire building in the airflow. Other HVAC systems are more limited in scope, such as self-contained window air conditioners. S...
