Problems solved by technology

However, this device does not mention solutions to control invasive species, such as leaf-cutter ants, which can greatly hinder the growth of seedlings
[0011] Existing equipment does not address competition for resources from invasive species such as leaf cutter ants, mosquitoes, insects, unwanted vegetation, weeds and grasses
Further limitations include costly post-planting maintenance, the use of toxic measures to control invasive species, and the fact that the plant protection is not suitable for sloping terrain and adapting to diverse vegetation areas
Additionally, existing equipment did not provide adequate air circulation and water to the plants, and was cumbersome to transport, especially to hard-to-reach areas

Abstract

The present invention provides a modular apparatus for protecting a plant from invasive species and adapting a protective area as a plant grows with little to no post-planting maintenance. For example, a modular apparatus comprises a base comprising a first rim, a water storage, and a plug-in-joint, a lid comprising a second rim and an opening, wherein the first rim is configured to correspondingly fit the second rim, wherein the opening is configured to correspondingly fit the plug-in joint; and a recess disposed on an edge of the base and on an edge of the lid. An infinite number of modularapparatuses can be coupled to expand protection for plant growth. The modular plant protecting apparatus can be installed manually or deployed by an aerial vehicle into degraded areas with limited-access.

Description

[0001] Cross References to Related Applications [0002] This application claims priority to U.S. Provisional Patent Application No. 62 / 688,953, entitled "Plant Protection Devices and Methods," filed June 22, 2018, the disclosure of which is incorporated herein by reference in its entirety. technical field [0003] The present invention relates to protecting plants from adverse environmental factors, and more particularly, to a modular device for protecting and adapting plant growth to restore abandoned forests, environments and reduce climate change effects. Background technique [0004] Currently, more than two billion hectares of land worldwide are available for forest and landscape restoration. Adverse effects of climate change, including increases in atmospheric carbon dioxide, may be reduced through reforestation. In addition, restoring riparian and mountaintop forests is important for maintaining rivers, watersheds, and other water resources. The benefits of forest...
