The method comprises the following steps of: determining whether a to-be-detected underlying surface is a water body or not; when the to-be-detected underlying surface is a water body, determining whether aquatic vegetation exists in the water body or not based on a normalized vegetation index; when the aquatic vegetation exists in the water body, obtaining a backscattering coefficient of the aquatic vegetation through microwave remote sensing; and based on the normalized vegetation index and the backscattering coefficient, determining the type of the aquatic vegetation, enabling the aquatic vegetation comprise emergent aquatic plants, floating-leaved plants or diving plants. By adding the microwave remote sensing technology on the basis of optical remote sensing, not only can three-dimensional information of the aquatic vegetation be considered, the phenological and spectral characteristics of the aquatic vegetation can be considered, and the type of the aquatic vegetation can be accurately and efficiently identified and determined.
