Abstract

The invention belongs to the field of GIF image coding and decoding, and relates to a method and equipment for decoding a GIF file. The equipment comprises a random access memory, a register, and a compressed data read-in module, a file information analysis module, a color index list analysis module, a code table establishment module, a data decoding module, a color data acquisition module and a decoded data write-out module which are carried in a field programmable gate array (FPGA), according to the invention, compressed data are automatically read in and decompressed data are automatically written out in a hardware implementation mode, software participation is not needed, and the throughput and execution efficiency of GIF decoding can be improved; automatic establishment of a decoding code table can be completed, the establishment and search process of a linked list type code table is completed in a mode of decoding while establishing, and hardware storage resources can be saved as much as possible; in addition, according to the length information of the code table, data splicing can be completed in cooperation with a chain table reverse-order table look-up mode, and the accuracy and rapidity of GIF decoding are guaranteed.
