The invention provides a detection system and method for an intelligent valve. The detection system comprises an MCU, a water sensor, an encoder, a water pipe valve and a gear motor. The water sensor is used for monitoring whether water leakage exists at the current position or not, generating a water leakage signal if water leakage exists at the current position, and sending the water leakage signal to the MCU; the encoder is used for outputting a level signal when the motor and the clamping jaw rotate and sending the level signal to the MCU; the MCU is used for controlling the water pipe valve to close according to the water leakage signal; determining rotation angles of the gear motor and the clamping jaw according to the level signal; when the rotation angle reaches a preset angle, stopping outputting the PWM signal, and enabling the motor drive to stop outputting current, thereby enabling the gear motor to stop rotating; a water leakage signal is detected through the water sensor and reported in time, and waste of water resources is reduced; and the valve is opened and closed to any angle through the level signal output by the encoder, so that the user experience is improved.
