Abstract

A battery system includes a housing having opposing first and second main walls, a perimeter wall connecting the first and second main walls along respective circumferences thereof, and an interior defined by the first and second main walls and the perimeter wall, where the housing is configured to receive an anode assembly, a cathode assembly, and an electrolyte within the interior. Longitudinal protrusions are formed in the perimeter wall, extend outwardly from the interior, and extend along opposing adjacent portions of the first and second perimeter. A wall port is defined in the perimeter wall in fluid communication with the interior, where the wall port is configured to allow an electrolyte to flow therethrough into and out of the interior. A first electrode and a second electrode extend through the perimeter wall and are configured to electrically connect with the anode assembly and the cathode assembly, respectively.

Description

[0001] introduction. technical field [0002] The present disclosure generally relates to battery systems, battery pack processing systems, and electrolyte drain and refill stations for battery systems. Background technique [0003] Batteries are becoming more and more frequently used in a variety of applications, including motor vehicles. Most batteries rely on chemical reactions within the cells to generate electricity and / or store charge. However, chemical-based batteries produce gaseous by-products such as carbon dioxide and ethylene, and the chemicals used within the batteries can deteriorate over time, reducing their ability to generate electrical current and / or store electrical energy. [0004] It is common practice to replace batteries at regular intervals or when battery performance drops below a predetermined level. However, this approach can be expensive for the owner and a burden on the supply chain. SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION [0005] According to one embodim...
