[0039] Detailed Description of Preferred Embodiments

[0040] The object of the present invention is to provide an apparatus, system and method for optimizing the aeration treatment and sound attenuation of gas discharged from one or more exhaust device outlet segments by using a noise-absorbing wind belt. The noise-absorbing wind belt of the invention helps to promote the surrounding atmosphere to mix with the exhaust gas discharged from the exhaust device, forming a high-speed flowing sealed plume, and increasing the effective flue height of the exhaust device. The sound-absorbing windband also helps to block line-of-sight noise from the exhaust outlet, thereby enhancing sound attenuation. In addition, the anechoic wind strip can help to isolate the constriction created by the exhaust flow (plume) from environmental conditions such as wind shear.

[0041] As shown in the figure, the muffler wind belt 2 includes two or more segmented parts 3, the segmented part 3 is concentr...

Abstract

The invention provides a device, system and method for enhancing aeration and sound attenuation of gas discharged from one or more gas outlets (5) of an exhaust device (4) by using a noise-absorbing wind belt (2). The sound-absorbing wind belt helps to aerate the exhaust gas discharged from the exhaust device and form a sealed plume, which increases the effective flue height of the exhaust device. This can be achieved by arranging spaced-apart segments (3a, 3b) forming channels (21, 26) which allow ambient air to flow into the anechoic wind band to mix with and dilute the exhaust gases. These segments may extend upwards and inwards at an angle to further encourage incorporation of ambient atmosphere into the exhaust from the exhaust.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates generally to exhaust devices, and more particularly to sound-attenuating air strips for use with exhaust devices for removing exhaust air from building interiors. The invention is particularly beneficial for promoting the incorporation of atmospheric air into the exhaust, thereby increasing the exhaust velocity of the exhaust and increasing the effective stack height of the exhaust, as well as promoting sound attenuation of noise generated by the exhaust or exhaust outlet. Background of the invention [0002] Conventional exhaust systems generally have fan and nozzle arrangements for extracting air from the building and increasing the exhaust velocity in order to properly disperse the air and avoid re-aeration of the exhaust air. For this, reference is made to US4806076 by Andrews and US5439349 by Kupferberg for forming high velocity jets of exhaust or other gases. These exhaust fans are usually installed near the roof ar...
