Embodiment 1-5

[0241] Examples 1-5I. Surfactant phase

[0242] Element

[0243] Disodium EDTA

[0244] water

[0245] Add this mixture to the first mixing vessel. 1.5-2.5 g of the resulting mixture was applied to the substrate described herein and then dried. Ⅱ. Skin care active phase

[0246] water

[0247] From 0.10 to 1-0 grams of this phase material is added to the dry matrix which already contains the surfactant phase material. Dry to remove any added moisture. The resulting cleansing articles are used by wetting with water for cleansing and depositing skin care actives on the skin or hair. Alternatively, the skin care active phase can be added or impregnated into the insoluble matrix prior to the surfactant phase, as long as the surfactant is not added by dipping / rolling. The latter is possible when using extrusion or gravure application.

Abstract

The present invention relates to substantially dry, disposable personal cleansing articles suitable for cleansing and delivering skin care actives to the skin or hair. Consumers use such articles by (i) wetting the dry article with water, and (ii) subjecting the wetted article to mechanical forces such as friction to create lather. The formulation comprises a water insoluble base, a lathering surfactant and a skin care active. Preferably, the articles of the present invention further comprise a deposition aid and / or a conditioning component.

Description

[0001] Field [0002] The present invention relates to substantially dry, disposable personal cleansing articles that both cleanse the skin or hair and deliver skin care actives to the skin or hair. When using this type of product, the user needs to moisten the dry product with water to generate foam, and then put the skin in contact with the product for generating foam, and clean the skin according to a conventional method. The formulation comprises a water insoluble base, at least one lathering surfactant and at least one skin care active. [0003] The use of a matrix enhances lather at low surfactant levels, enhances cleansing properties and exfoliation, optimizes delivery and deposition of skin care actives, and provides desired properties such as fabric density, thickness and volume. Thus, the present invention provides excellent delivery of skin care actives to the skin or hair using a matrix having the desired properties, using low levels of surfactant (and thus low irri...
