Abstract

The present invention is a device (10) for storing and selectively sharpening a knife (16). The present invention includes a scabbard (12) with opposing first (20) and second (18) ends. An opening is defined in the first end (20) and a passage defined in the scabbard (12) for receiving a knife blade. The device further includes a sharpening device (64) and an engagement device (62), where the engagement device is in operable communication with the scabbard for selectively moving the sharpening device (64) relative to the scabbard (12).

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to a sheath for storing blades, and more particularly to a sheath for storing and selectively sharpening blades. Background of the invention [0002] In view of the change of knives with the actual use time, it is very troublesome to keep common household knives in sharp condition. Users don't always remember to sharpen the blade until the knife becomes too dull to cut effectively. It is not always convenient to sharpen the blades before or after each use, so that over time the blades become dull and difficult to use. [0003] In many prior art patents, the inventors have recognized this shortcoming of general blades and have proposed a sharpener sheath from which the blade is sharpened each time it is inserted or withdrawn , Typical patents in this regard include US Pat. No. 3,774,350 and No. 4,041,651. [0004] In this prior art sharpener sheath, the blade is sharpened by inserting the blade into or withdrawing from t...
