Abstract

When UE receives MBMS service, there is non-MBMS service needed to send. UE sends 'service request' message in non-switch layer to SGSN. In forwarding the said 'service request' message, RNC checks whether UE receives MBMS service or not. If yes, then, UE receives shared Iu connection of a MBMS service, and does not launch procedure for building SCCP connection. Through shared Iu connection, RNC forwards the 'service request' message to SGSN. With the 'service request' message being received and accepted, SGSN returns the 'service request' to MS. Through UE, SGSN receives shared Iu connection of a MBMS service, and sends 'RAB allocation request' message to RNC for requesting to build RAB. Information elements: Permanent NAS UE Identity is added to current 'RAB allocation request' message in order to recognize UE in UTRAN and CN.
