Embodiment Construction

[0025] The present invention relates to self-closing packaging materials made from integral paper-plastic laminates wherein at least a portion of the entire side of the laminate is coated with an adhesive material. According to the present invention, an article can be placed on the adhesive coated surface laminate which can be folded such that the opposite adhesive coated surface of the laminate is bonded to itself on, thereby securing and packing items therein. Self-closing packaging materials create a "fit" package that holds the items contained inside snugly and tightly in place.

[0026] The present invention includes a laminated sheet material having an adhesive material applied thereon. The laminate is a two-layer, or alternatively, a three-layer laminate. The laminate is then coated with a layer of adhesive material. In some cases it may be desirable to coat less than the entire surface of the laminate. The coating can thus be selectively applied to only specific ar...

Abstract

A self-closing resealable packaging material (S) and a process for creating a package utilizing the material. The packaging material is formed form at least one sheet of a package forming material (10), preferably laminated to a seond sheet (12) through an adhesive layer (11), which encloses and seals and article therein. A cohesive material (13) is applied to surface portions of the packaging material so that when wrapped around an article cohesive portions stick together and seal the package. To make the package resealable a liner (17) is placed upon at least a part of the cohesive material containing surface so that a non-adhering margin is formed and the unused cohesive can be utilized reseal the package after its initial opening. Indicia (19) can be provided on the packaging material to assist in positioning the article to be enclosed so taht when cut along the pre-dotted line (18), the edge of the laminate with the cohesive material (13) is cut away from the package and the non-adhered margin is left unimpaired and intact for resealing.

Description

field of invention [0001] The present invention relates to an adhesive-free, resealable, reusable postal package for shipping goods to a customer who can then reuse the same package to repost the goods back to the sender. Background technique [0002] In the past, a variety of materials have been developed for packaging. US Patent No. 5,244,702 discloses a paper-plastic laminate that can be converted by conventional equipment into envelopes, fruit bags, and other expandable container products that are initially flat. This patent describes a paper-plastic laminate in which a sheet of cover paper is cold-laminated to a reinforced film of synthetic oriented plastic material so that the properties of the oriented film are not compromised, and the resulting The product has excellent tear and burst strength properties. US Patent No. 5,780,150 discloses a sealing tape consisting of paper-plastic laminates or other items made from recycled materials for sealing cartons. [0003] ...
