Abstract

An improved LED footlight fixture provides a point of illumination on the ground with greater efficiency and minimizes perceptible direct light. The device includes a housing, an LED that generates light, and a light guide plate. The light guide plate is installed on the housing together with the LED and has a front side and a back side parallel to the front side. The LED is arranged adjacent to the top of the light guide plate to guide the light from the LED to the plate, so that the light introduced into the plate is incident on the front at an angle greater than the critical angle of the light guide plate and is directed to the opposite end through total reflection. The light guide plate is formed with a deflector on its back that reflects the light propagated by total reflection in the light guide plate in a deflection direction that destroys the front total reflection, thereby allowing the light reflected by the deflector to pass through the front and guide it to the front and below. .
