Problems solved by technology

[0004] However, a major disadvantage of conventional anthelmintics is that the development of nematode resistance to a wide range of anthelmintics is becoming more widespread, thus causing serious distress (Waller, 1997; Sangster et al, 1999; Van Wyk et al, 1999)

[0115] 1. Materials and methods

[0116] 1.1 Immunity of truncated infection to sheep

[0117] All sheep experiments were performed in accordance with the regulations of the Wallaceville Animal Ethics Committee. Romney sheep have been grown under the condition of no insects since birth, housed and fed with commercially available sheep feed, hay and water, and free to eat. Sheep were at least 4 months old at the time of immunization. Infect and immunize sheep with 40,000 Trichostrongylus coliformis L3 truncated forms at least three times. 14 days after each infection, oxfendazole (Systamex, Schering Plow Ltd., 4.5 mg kg -1 ) was terminated, and the sheep were repeatedly infected after 7 days of gavage. In some experiments, sheep were also given a fourth infection (booster dose), at which time the dosing regimen was not discontinued, but the sheep were slaughtered 2-3 days after the booster dose.

Abstract

The present invention relates to an isolated monoclonal antibody mAb PAB-1, deposited at ATCC on 24 January 2002 and accorded accession PTA-4005, which binds to a surface antigen on nematode L3. It also relates to the antigen which binds to the monoclonal antibody and uses for the monoclonal antibody and antigen in diagnosing and treating or preventing nematode infection.

Description

[0001] This application is a divisional application of the applicant's international application PCT / NZ2003 / 000010 that entered China on July 29, 2004. The application name of the original application is New Monoclonal Antibody and Nematode Larval Antigen, and the national application number is 03802969.3. technical field [0002] The present invention relates to monoclonal antibody and nematode larvae antigen. In particular, the present invention relates to monoclonal antibodies specific for surface antigens of third stage larvae (L3) of parasitic nematodes. Background technique [0003] Colonies of nematode animal parasites, such as sheep and cattle parasites, are of great economic importance in agriculture, and anthelmintics are commonly administered to treat nematode infestation. [0004] However, a major disadvantage of conventional anthelmintics is that the development of nematode resistance to a wide range of anthelmintics is becoming more widespread, thus causing se...
