A multi-function layout square of modular construction having a laser that is capable of performing multiple functions is disclosed. The multi-function square has a metallic outer casing with magnetic properties, with a protractor plate slidably, pivotally, and removably attached by thumbscrews to the casing that can be moved and rotated with respect to the casing and slid linearly along a portion of the length of the casing. When the protractor plate is removed the casing may be used as a level, a plumb bob, a ruler, and a compass. When the protractor plate is attached the tool may be used as a framing square, roofing framing square or rafter square, and a gauge or scribe for straight lines, arcs, or circles. The laser, a switch, and a pair of bubble level vials are contained in a module installed at one end of the casing, and a second module containing batteries is removably installed at the other end of the casing. Each module has electrical contacts that engage the interior surface of the casing and contacts that engage the batteries when the modules are installed and abutted. When the switch is on, a circuit is completed through the metallic casing, which electrically connects the batteries to the laser. The casing may be suspended vertically from a support surface by passing a string or wire through a bore in one of the thumbscrews, may be mounted on a tripod, or may be magnetically attached to metal objects.

The present invention provides for track for use in constructing metal stud walls. The track is a generally U-shaped channel having a base and upstanding side walls extending along either side of the base. The base is provided with a plurality of embossed indicator means evenly spaced along the length of the base. The spacing of the embossed indicator means provides a guide for the proper spacing of the studs placed in the base.

A device for marking upon a surface including a body assembly made of a resilient material, a cover member, a base assembly and a bottom cover. The body assembly has an outer wall, a central opening an upper end and a bottom end. The base assembly includes a marker rigidly attached to the center of the upper surface and a bottom surface. The upper surface is fixedly secure upon the bottom end of the body assembly in a way that the marker is housed within central opening. The bottom cover protects bottom surface. Cover member protects the upper end and the opening of the body assembly and prevents the marker from drying when the device for marking is not in use.

The invention provides an integral plotter, and relates to a plotter. The integral plotter comprises two bases (1) and a first polished rod shaft (2), wherein the first polished rod shaft (2) is used for connecting the two bases (1); a slide block (3) is arranged on the first polished rod shaft (2); one end of a second polished rod shaft (4) is hinged to the first polished rod shaft (2) through the slide block (3); a slide groove (5) is formed in the second polished rod shaft (4); an M-shaped rod (6) is arranged under the slide groove (5), and is hinged to the slide groove (5) through a slide block (8); an N-shaped rod (7) is arranged at the parallel surface under the M-shaped rod (6), and is hinged to the M-shaped rod (6) through a shaft sleeve (9); a chalk support frame (10) is arranged at one end of the N-shaped rod (7). The integral plotter has the advantages that by integrating multiple plotting tools, the plotting of lines, angles, circles, circular arcs and ellipses is realized; the carrying is convenient, the operation is simple, the fixing is convenient, and the accuracy of plotted drawings is higher.

A special tape (22) for measuring blocks used in the construction of wood structures includes two special scales. A first scale has marks (32) spaced at 14½ inch intervals for making blocks for studs, and a second scale has marks (34) spaced at 22½ inch intervals for making blocks for rafters. The tape (22) is longitudinally placed along a two-by board (500) and marks (36) made on the two-by board (500) at the desired intervals of 14½ or 22½ inches. The two-by board (500) is then cut at the marks (36) to create the blocks, which are then placed between the studs or rafters.

A folding knife light tool with an ergonometric handle in which an illuminating means whether an LED or light bulb or a laser light is incorporated into the handle housing in the spaces existing between the blade, the locking mechanism, and the handle. A knife handle is provided having a body contoured for the hand. The housing is made from one molded piece with a slit in the middle. The handle includes a pivot point for supporting a blade between the longitudinal sides or scales of the blades. A conventional locking or non-locking system is utilized for keeping the blade open once it is unfolded. A pipe insulation assembly includes a length of tubular insulation with a longitudinally extending slit so that the tubular insulation can be passed over and mounted on a length of pipe and a jacket overlaying the outer surface of the tubular insulation. To facilitate the installation of the pipe insulation assembly, a ruler, which is associated with the jacket and, preferably, no longer visible when the pipe insulation is mounted on a pipe, extends for the length of the jacket and is located adjacent the slit in the tubular insulation. A display device (10) for diagramming a play includes a housing (12) having a handle (14) for lifting and carrying the housing. A bottom (16) and sides of the housing form a recess is filled with a layer (18) of magnetic particles and a display panel (20) on which an outline of a field of play, or a portion thereof, is drawn. The panel fits over the layer. A stylus (24) has a tip end (26) which, when brought into contact with, or in close proximity to, an outer surface of the panel attracts the magnetic particles to the underside of the form an image (28-32) visible to anyone looking at the panel. The user can create as many images as he needs to diagram a play for his team. When done, the user draws a slide (36) underneath the length of the panel to erase the display.

A digital protractor for measuring angular displacement from a referenced surface includes a substantially congruent pair of pivotally interconnected upper and lower arms, which arms are superposable upon one another. Each arm has a pair of substantially parallel engagement edges extending longitudinally of the arm. One of the arms is engagable along an engagement edge thereof with the reference surface. A capacitive sensor is secured to the lower arm and a digital readout device is secured to the upper arm for operatively cooperating with the capacitive sensor to measure and display the angular displacement from the arm engaging the reference surface to the other arm.

A measuring and layout device having a stationary member having a flat surface adapted to be marked on and an angle and distance device rotatably coupled to the stationary member. The angle and distance device includes a longitudinally and laterally rigid extendable tape that can be extended from a central point and that has an edge that facilitates reliably marking on the stationary member to form an accurate template as the angle and distance device is rotated and the tape is extended and retracted to critical features of an area.

A multi-purpose tool includes a graduated extension pivotably and lockably connected to a leveling extension. An illuminated ruler including a light transmissive bar having opposed ends. An opaque film bearing printed indicia in the form of ruled markings is affixed to the bottom of the light transmissive bar. A light-emitting diode is embedded within the light transmissive bar for illuminating the ruled markings. A battery is carried atop one end of the bar and is connected to the light-emitting diode for energizing and illuminating the light-emitting diode.

The user can create as many images as he needs to diagram a play for his team. When done, the user moves a magnetic band underneath the length of the panel to erase the display.
