A suture anchor is described which in one form may be easily fabricated from extruded material by angular cuts and bore holes which provide an offset pulling force to the suture. In an alternate and preferred embodiment the suture anchor is injection molded having an annular displaced corner and abutment wall which act to seat the suture anchor firmly within a bore hole. Novel application means are also disclosed which hold the suture anchor on a frangible shaft for insertion and upon completion of the insertion permit fracture of the frangible portion and removal of the instrument. In another form of the invention, the suture anchor comprises a substantially wedge-shaped body having a smaller distal end and a larger proximal end, means thereon for retaining a suture, and means thereon for releasable connection to an inserter shaft; a boundary surface and a plow surface of the body intersecting to form a biting edge at the proximal end of the body; and the boundary surface and an abutment surface of the body intersecting to form a cam surface at the proximal end of the body; and the biting edge being adapted to be in engagement with a first wall portion of a bore in a bone and the cam surface being adapted to be in engagement with a second wall portion of the bore opposed to the first wall portion; wherein tension on the inserter shaft is operable to move the cam portion along the bore second wall portion and rotate the body in the bore such that the biting edge bites into the bore first wall portion to lock the body in the bore.

A plasma display device that diversifies heat dissipating paths of integrated circuit modules in a circuit board assembly, thereby enhancing heat dissipation of the integrated circuit modules. The plasma display device includes a plasma display panel, a chassis base on which the plasma display panel is attached and supported, integrated circuit modules that are mounted on the circuit board assembly on an opposite side of the chassis base to the plasma display panel, and heat sinks, each being attached to one side of each of the integrated circuit modules to dissipate heat therefrom. The heat sink is formed such that one end thereof extends to come in contact with the chassis base.

A method of patterning the surface of a substrate with at least one organic semiconducting compound, comprising the steps of: (a) providing a stamp having a surface including a plurality of indentations formed therein defining an indentation pattern, said indentations being contiguous with a stamping surface and defining a stamping pattern, (b) coating said stamping surface with at least one compound (C1) capable of binding to the surface of the substrate and of binding at least one organic semiconducting compound (S), (c) contacting at least a portion of the surface of a substrate with said stamping surface to allow deposition of said compound (C1) on the substrate, (d) removing said stamping surface to provide a pattern of binding sites on the surface of the substrate, (e) applying a plurality of crystallites of the organic semiconducting compound (S) to the surface of the substrate to enable at least a portion of the applied crystallites to bind to at least a portion of the binding sites on the surface of the substrate.

A casing of a hydraulic machine such as a gas turbine is formed as a horizontally split type flangeless casing. The flangeless casing consists of an upper casing and a lower casing joined together at joint faces and fastened by fastening bolts. The fastening bolt has a screw thread which engages the threaded hole on the joint face of the lower casing. A bolt hole having an internal screw thread and through which the fastening bolt passes is provided in the upper casing. A sleeve having an external screw thread is fitted into the bolt hole of the upper casing by engaging the external screw of the sleeve with the internal sleeve of the bolt hole. An enlarged diameter portion is formed on a shaft of the fastening bolt at the portion where the enlarged diameter portion abuts an upper end face of the sleeve when the fastening bolt is screwed into the threaded hole in the lower casing. When the fastening bolt is tightened, the shaft tensile force of the bolt is received by the abutment of the enlarged diameter portion and the upper end face of the sleeve and, then, transferred from the sleeve to the upper casing through the engagement of the external screw thread of the sleeve and the internal screw thread of the bolt hole of the upper casing and generates the fastening force which presses the upper casing to the lower casing.

A method of upgrading an aluminide coating on a used turbine engine component to a platinum aluminide coating. The method involves cleaning at least one surface of the component to remove hot corrosion products from the surface without damaging the aluminide coating. In one embodiment, the cleaning step involves immersing the component in a heated solution comprising acetic acid while agitating the solution using ultrasonic energy. A layer of platinum is then deposited onto the cleaned surface of the component. A second aluminide coating is then formed on the surface of the component to upgrade the component. The invention also relates to a turbine engine component, e.g., a turbine blade, having a metal-based substrate and a platinum aluminide coating on at least one surface thereof, which coating has been upgraded from an aluminide coating originally on the component using the above method.

The oxidized cellulose may be a pellet of unwoven oxidized cellulose fibrous strands, or it may be strands of unwoven cellulose fibers woven or otherwise arranged into a gauze or mesh. In a method of causing hemostasis, oxidized cellulose is provided in pellet form and applied to a wound gap. The pellet may be compressed before being applied to the wound, which thereby allows the pellet to expand to conform to the shape of the wound gap.
