Abstract

The railcar is arranged to include two side frames and corbels. Each side frame has axle box openings at each end to accommodate bearing adapters. The bearing nipple arrangement includes a cast steel bearing nipple that is shaped to fit onto the top of the bearing arrangement. Fitted to the top of the bearing nipple is a nipple pad comprising an elastomer of selected durometer. The protrusions extend from the nipple pad and are received in notches in the bearing nipple to provide longitudinal stability to the nipple pad on the bearing nipple itself.
