Embodiment Construction

[0019] Figure 1 schematically illustrates a mobile phone system 1 that allows users to take pictures with their mobile phones 3-1, 3-2 and, over the phone network 5, transfer the pictures to remote storage along with audio or text annotations and retrieval system 7, photographs and annotations are stored in the remote storage and retrieval system 7. The system 1 also allows users to enter queries into their mobile phones 3, which are then transmitted over the telephone network 5 to the remote storage and retrieval system 7 in order to retrieve previously saved images.

[0020] storage operation

[0021] When the image is to be saved, the picture itself can be captured by the camera 9 of the mobile phone 3, or it can be received from a remote device, such as the remote mobile phone 3-2. As shown in the figure, the camera 9 is built in or combined with the mobile phone. However, as other possibilities, the camera could be detachably connected to the mobile phone, or could be c...

Abstract

A mobile telephone system ( 1 ) is provided which allows users to store photographs taken by using their mobile telephone ( 31 - 1, 3 - 2 ), in a central storage and retrieval system ( 7 ). The mobile telephone allows the user to add an annotation to the photograph for use in retrieving the photograph at a later time. At the time of retrieval, the user inputs a text or spoken query into the mobile telephone which is transmitted to the central storage and retrieval system and is used to identify the image to be retrieved. The identified image is then transmitted back to the user's mobile telephone for further use.

Description

technical field [0001] The present invention relates to a telephone system, various parts thereof and methods of use thereof. In particular, the present invention relates to storing and retrieving images or other multimedia files on a remote server over a telephone network. Background technique [0002] Some of the latest mobile phones available include cameras that allow the user to take pictures. Mobile phones are usually equipped with an image management application (software program) to allow the user to view images, add images to favorites, rename images, delete images and send images to other devices with mobile phones capable of receiving images, etc. user. However, given the limited memory and processing power in a mobile phone, the number of photos that can be saved and the functions that a user can perform are limited. Contents of the invention [0003] It is an object of the present invention to provide an alternative mobile phone system which allows the user...
