Abstract

The invention discloses a method of preparing carriers of the Chinese calligraphy and painting with grass cloth as the material, including steps of immersing, squeezing, dewatering, drying, softening and waxing. The water content and the pulp content of the grass cloth can be well controlled through these steps to densify the grass cloth fiber and flatten the surface. The invention makes a full use of the basic characters of the grass cloth that is non-perishable and convenient for a long-term preservation. In addition, when being attached to the grass cloth, the Chinese calligraphy and painting are unique owing to the special texture effect of the grass cloth and thereby forming a natural anti-fake mark which the grass cloth is incomparable with rice paper and thin silk. Moreover, the method of the invention controls the water content and the pulp content to some extent so as to better guarantee the ink rhyme and color effects; the treatment on the grass cloth including rolling, softening and waxing further facilitates painting and mounting and improves the color and ink fixing.
