Problems solved by technology

In addition, ride comfort is affected when the mechanical parking brake is released, since a jerk can occur when releasing and simultaneously starting the rail vehicle
In the case of mechanical parking brakes this leads to wear of the brake shoes, of the mechanical brake components and, in the case of pneumatic parking brakes, possibly of the compressor
Additionally, noise is generated when actuating and releasing the pneumatic parking brake

Embodiment Construction

[0013] Furthermore, the service brake of the rail vehicle 1 is implemented entirely generator-wise by an electric machine. The drive can be carried out by means of the same motor 2 or another motor. In the event of failure of the tuned drive and braking system, the emergency brake provides emergency braking resistance via the generator-feeding of the permanent magnet synchronous motor. Such a permanent-magnet synchronous motor can correspond to the electric machine used as drive or also to the electric machine used as service brake.

[0014] Now, according to the invention, the electric machine 2 is used as a parking brake instead of a mechanical brake. The motors can also be used as service brakes, emergency brakes or also as drives.

[0015] The electric machine 2 is controlled here in such a way that the position of the rotor within the stator remains constant even with torques acting from the outside. The electric motor 2 is controlled by means of a position controller ...

Abstract

The invention relates to a stop brake for railway traction vehicles (1) consisting of at least one electric motor (2) provided with a rotor and stator. Said electric motor (2) is controlled in such a way that the position of the rotor in the stator remains constant when it is exposed to an external torque, i.e. the electric motor (2) is used in the form of a stop brake instead of a pneumatic stopbrake, thereby, the inventive stop brake is not exposed to any wear since stop forces are produced magnetically and not mechanically. In addition, no noise is generated by the use of the inventive stop brake. Said invention also makes it possible to avoid a starting jerk when the electric motor (2) serving for a stop brake is used in the form of a drive motor.

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to a parking brake of a rail vehicle, wherein the parking brake is realized by means of at least one electric machine which has a rotor and a stator. The invention also relates to the method of operation of the parking brake. Background technique [0002] A locomotive is used in rail traffic to tow freight or passenger cars. For electric and rail locomotives that are allowed to run passenger cars, there are pneumatic, hydraulic or electrically operated mechanical (backup) brakes in addition to the commonly used generator electric brakes. For the commonly used generator electric brake, the locomotive's permanent magnet synchronous motor can operate as a generator, which has permanent magnets on the rotor. During operation, the locomotive is placed in a stop state only by means of the commonly used generating electric brake. Mechanical brakes are applied once the vehicle is at a standstill at a station or at a parking station. T...
