Abstract

The invention relates to a device and a method for compression coding and decoding of an image. The invention processes a digital image signal on the base of a macro-block. A seed pixel is selected on each macro-block to form a different image between the seed pixel and an around pixel, and the seed pixel is formed by inputting an image auxiliary sample according to a specific proportion. The seed image and the different image are respectively processed by discrete cosine transform and quantization and then are compressed. The compressed image data is coded in a lossless manner, and the image is processed by compression coding. The encoding data of the seed image and the different image are respectively decoded. After decoding, the image is decoded through the decoded image obtained by adding the two images in the last step. The invention only utilizes internal information of the image to conduct compression, thus removing the repeatability in the image internal space; therefore, the compression rate can be increased effectively.
