Problems solved by technology

It can be seen that in the above method of the prior art, the multicast data needs to be stripped when it returns to the source RPR node or the TTL value is 0, and as figure 1 In the shown network, the stripping operation can be performed only after transmission to RPR node D, which obviously wastes the bandwidth between RPR node D and RPR node G

Embodiment Construction

[0021] In order to make the object, technical solution and advantages of the present invention clearer, the present invention will be described in detail below in conjunction with the accompanying drawings and specific embodiments.

[0022] figure 2 Main method flow chart provided for the present invention, as figure 2 As shown, the method mainly includes:

[0023] Step 201: After receiving the IGMP membership report message for a certain multicast group, the first RPR node that performs the ring-up processing on the Internet Group Management Protocol (IGMP) query message, sends the RPR of the IGMP membership report message The RPR node corresponding to the source MAC acts as the receiving node of the multicast group, and establishes a forwarding table including the corresponding relationship between the multicast group and the receiving node.

[0024] Step 202: The first RPR node determines the shortest forwarding path corresponding to the multicast group according to the...

Abstract

The invention provides a method for transmitting multicast data on a resilient packet ring (RPR) and a RPR node. The establishment of a forward table containing the corresponding relation between a multicast group and a receiving node is realized on the RPR node which carries out upper ring processing to the message query of an internet group management protocol, thus leading the RPR node to being capable of determining a shortest forward path corresponding to the multicast group according to the topology information of the forward table and the RPR, determining that the last receiving node in the shortest forward path is a stripping node and leading the transmitted multicast data of the multicast group to stop transmission on the RPR at the stripping node. The invention can save more bandwidth of the RPR, which is occupied in the transmission process of the multicast data.

Description

technical field [0001] The invention relates to network communication technology, in particular to a method for transmitting multicast data on a resilient packet ring (RPR) and an RPR node. Background technique [0002] RPR is a new type of media access control (MAC) layer protocol defined by the IEEE 802.17 working group. It has multiple technical features such as less than 50ms protection switching, automatic topology discovery, and high bandwidth utilization. RPR is a reciprocal double-ring topology. The two rings can be called the inner ring and the outer ring, both of which can transmit data. The transmission direction of the outer ring is clockwise, and the transmission direction of the inner ring is counterclockwise. [0003] Nodes on the RPR are generally called RPR nodes, and perform the following operations on packets on the RPR: insert, copy, transit, and strip. Among them, the upper ring means that the RPR node inserts the message from outside the RPR into the R...
