Abstract

The invention relates to a hydrocarbon retaining system and an extract system, comprising a fuel system; a hydrocarbon retaining system selectively connected to an air intake system, an exhaust system and the fuel system, wherein the hydrocarbon retaining system comprises a first and a second hydrocarbon retaining devices, compared with that of the first hydrocarbon retaining device, the second hydrocarbon retaining device is provided with less porosity; and a controller which is used to selectively convey exhaust gas of the engine to the first hydrocarbon retaining device and then convey to the second hydrocarbon retaining device so as to store the exhaust gas hydrocarbon, selectively convey fuel steam from the fuel system to the hydrocarbon retaining system, as well as selectively extract the hydrocarbon stored in the hydrocarbon retaining system to the air intake system of the engine. The invention also describes a system for managing exhaust of a vehicle engine and a plurality of associated configurations. The invention can improve storage and extraction of HC.
