Abstract

The invention discloses a device for realizing protection switching in a WDM PON, a system and a method therefor, and the device relates to an OLT and an ONU. The device comprises a PON service access module, a protection switching control module and a standby PON service access module, wherein the PON service access module is used for detecting optical signals of accessed service and informing the protection switching control module when a communication optical fiber arranged between the OLT and the ONU has failure; the protection switching control module is used for sending protection switching notification message to the standby PON service access module so as to inform that the service is switched into the standby PON service access module from the primary PON service access module; and the standby PON service access module is used for sending the protection switching notification message to the ONU (OLT). When detecting optical fiber failure at the side of the OLT (ONU) and carrying out protection switching, the invention can inform the side of the ONU (OLT) to have the protection switching in time, thus realizing the protection for a full-service optical fiber between the OLT and the ONU and ensuring the normal transmission of the service.
