Illumination system for microlithography

An illumination system for a microlithography projection exposure apparatus for illuminating an illumination field (65) with the light from an assigned light source (11) comprises a pupil shaping unit (15, 30) for receiving light from the assigned light source (11) and for generating a predeterminable basic light distribution in a pupil plane (31) of the illumination system and a transmission filter (36) assigned to the pupil shaping unit (15, 30) and having at least one array of individually drivable individual elements for the spatially resolving transmission filtering of the light impinging on the transmission filter in or in proximity to a pupil plane (31, 35) of the illumination system, the transmission filter (36) being designed for generating a predeterminable correction of the basic light distribution. An illumination system of this type can generate a multiplicity of location-dependent intensity distributions in a pupil plane of the illumination system, a high transmittance being ensured. The location-dependent intensity distribution in the pupil plane generates an angle-dependent intensity distribution on the illumination field of the illumination system which can be optimized for a mask structure to be imaged.

Methods and apparatus for searching backup data based on content and attributes

Methods and apparatus are disclosed that permit the transparent bridging of a broad range of backup storage devices, such that backup software will identify an intermediate device as a one of those storage devices and will transparently send their backup data-stream thereto as part of the existing standard backup process. Upon receipt of a backup data-stream from the backup software, the methods and apparatus provide for analysis of the data elements in the data-stream, collection of management information about those data elements, and storage of the management information in an easily accessible format for subsequent review and query by users and administrators of the original data. The same backup data-stream is stored on any standard backup storage device, including the imitated backup storage device.

Network node and a system

The invention is related to structures used for providing fault tolerance in computer data networks. According to the invention, fault tolerance is achieved by redundancy, i.e. by using at least two network nodes in parallel. The network nodes have at least two physical network interface to a network, only one of which is active during normal operation. In the case of two network nodes being used, both of these have two physical network interfaces to the same network. A first network interfaces on the first node has the same IP and MAC address as one interface on the second node, and the second network interface on the first node has the same IP and MAC address as the other interface on the second node. The IP and MAC addresses of the two interfaces of each node are different, whereby the two nodes provide a first IP address and a corresponding first MAC address, and a second IP address and a corresponding second MAC address. In normal operation, a first node of the two nodes handles traffic directed to the first IP address and ignores the traffic directed to the second IP address, and the second node handles traffic directed to the second IP address and ignores the traffic directed to the first IP address. The two nodes monitor each other for fault conditions, and if one of the nodes show signs of failure, the other node activates the other of its interfaces and starts handling traffic directed to both IP addresses.

Open face optical fiber array for coupling to integrated optic waveguides and optoelectronic submounts

An optical fiber array having a V-groove chip with a front portion and a rear portion. The optical fibers are disposed in the V-grooves. The optical fibers are bnonded (e.g. glued) to the V-groove chip in the rear portion of the chip. The optical fibers are not bonded to the front portion of the chip. Preferably, the optical fibers have endfaces that are flush with a front face of the chip. The optical fibers extend from the rear portion. In use, the optical fiber array is pressed against V-grooves of an integrated optics chip or optoelectronic submount. Since the optical fibers are not bonded to the front portion, they can move slightly to fit precisely into V-grooves of the IO chip or submount. Hence, optical fiber alignment is improved. Also, there is no danger of residual adhesive preventing close contact between the optical fibers and IO chip.
