The embodiment of the invention provides a method for updating soft handoff parameters as well as network side equipment and user side equipment. The method comprises the following steps of: receiving updating request information carrying pilot frequency information, wherein the updating request information is transmitted by an access terminal; selecting soft handoff parameters for updating from a soft handoff parameter set, wherein the soft handoff parameter set comprises the soft handoff parameters respectively corresponding to each pilot frequency; and transmitting parameter updating information carrying the selected soft handoff parameters to the access terminal. The network side equipment comprises a storage unit, a first receiving unit, a selecting unit and a transmitting unit. Through the provided method and equipment, the soft handoff parameters can be updated in a soft handoff process in time and adapts to the current network environment so that the soft handoff is smoothly accomplished, and the communication service quality is improved.
